John Rollin Brummett

U.S. Veteran

John Rollin Brummett, 81, of Mesquite, Nevada passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was born September 13, 1931 in Winchester, Illinois to Collier Brummett and Bertha Lee Leeper. On December 25, 1951 he married Beverly Stoddard in Winchester, Illinois.

John attended Jacksonville High in Jacksonville, Illinois. He served our nation in the Korean War in the Army. He owned a catering business and in 1996 John moved to Mesquite, Nevada to retire. He served faithfully in his church as a Branch President for 17 years and as a temple worker for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in The Saint George Temple for 5 years. He would attend church meetings as often as he could. John loved spending time with family and taking walks.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Karen (Craig) Fryer of Herman, UT and Karol (John) McConeghy of Bunkerville, NV; his son, Keith Brummett of Mesquite, NV; his grandchildren, Kortney (Eric) Oster of Mesquite, NV, Kerry Lee (Fatima) Horrer of Bunkerville, NV, Kristyn (Jonathan) Muniz of Mesquite, NV, Kasidy Horrer of Mesquite, NV, and Katie Brummett of Mesquite, NV; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Ed Brummett of Jacksonville, IL; and his sister, Francis Loomis of Camano IS., WA. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Nola Dehlin and Margaret Brummett; and his brother, Wendell Brummett.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 4, 2012 and from 9:30 to 10:15 AM on Friday, October 5, 2012 at the LDS Stake Center in Mesquite, NV. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday October 5, 2012 at the LDS Stake Center. Interment will be at the Mesquite City Cemetery under the direction of Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Rd. Mesquite, NV.
