Julia Johnston

Julia Johnston, 89, passed away on July 14, 2017 in her home in Overton, NV. She was born on December 27, 1927 in Puerto Rico to Pedro Cortes and Victoria Aleman. She married Robert (Bobby) Johnston on July 27, 1985 in Long Beach, CA, who passed away on April 26, 2013.

Julia was raised in Puerto Rico and was the first of her family that moved to Bronx, NY and was shortly followed by others in her family. As she raised her family, she became a neighborhood mom/cop and loved to spend time with her children and their friends. She loved to go to the

beaches and Long Island, NY and owned a Dry Cleaning Business. She later moved to Long Beach, CA and worked at McDonell Dougles as an electrician. She later moved to Overton, NV. Julia was known to be caring and the boss of the family. She loved to take care of animals.

Julia is survived by her son Jose Ramon Ruiz Jr., her sisters, Josefa Parish and Adelina Ortiz, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Johnston, her daughter, Elba Narrazio, and her brother Feliz Cortes.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Guerra Gutierrez Mortuary, 6338 Greenleaf Avenue, Whittier, California, (562) 698-9935. Interment will follow in the Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Road , Whittier, California, (702) 398-3600.
