Jaymes Leu Obituary

Jaymes Randal Leu passed away on June 19, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 23, 1961, in Las Vegas, to Vernon Delbert Leu and Doris Marie McDuffee Leu. Jay is a beautiful example of resilience and strength despite the health challenges he faced in his life. All who were blessed to rub shoulders with him felt the true peace and joy that lived in his soul.

Jay grew up in Las Vegas, and made many friends along the way. He graduated from Clark High School before attending Ricks College where he took Emergency Medicine courses. He often talked about the six-week Discovery camping and hiking trip with Ricks where he enjoyed many outdoor adventures with great friends. Jay has enjoyed the outdoors all of his life and has spent a lot of time at his family cabin in Mammoth Creek on Cedar Mountain, Utah. He and his Dad took a summer off to build the cabin with help from the rest of the family. The cabin has been a place of rehabilitation and relaxation for Jay. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, rappelling, ATV riding, and just sitting around on the deck at the cabin. He also enjoyed playing volleyball, woodworking, pottery, photography, and journaling.

Jay loved the gospel and serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He had many opportunities to work with the young men of the church and enjoyed attending scout camps and doing other activities with them. He remembered very well the connections he made with his own leaders when he was a young man. Using his passion for volleyball, Jay’s leaders kept him close and made him very aware of their love for him. Jay always sought to emulate their example of loving leadership. He has seen the young men he worked with become great men, leaders, husbands, and fathers, which has brought him tremendous joy.

Jay has worked in the Plumbing Supply industry for many years, starting at Larkin Plumbing then Ferguson Plumbing Supply for over 30 years, and recently Kelly’s Pipe & Supply. He has met and worked with many lifelong friends and leaders who he admires and was grateful to know.

Jay met his best friend and the love of his life, Keli Jane Taylor, when they were six years old. Their dads worked together at the Nevada Test Site. They met again while playing on a volleyball team. They were married on May 9, 1987 and were sealed in the Las Vegas Temple on February 10, 1990. They were very blessed to bring two children into their home, Braden John Leu and Jordyn Janel Leu.

Jay is survived by his wife, Keli; his son, Braden; his daughter, Jordyn; his parents: Vern & Marie; his mother-in-law, Janet Taylor all of Las Vegas, NV; one brother and two sisters: Debra Malone of Springville, UT; Kevin (Carolyn) Leu of Las Vegas, NV and Cindee (Bart) Taylor of Levan, UT. He is preceded in death by one brother, Michael.
