Master Sargeant Raymond Rodgers Obituary

MSgt Raymond Gene Rodgers, 82, passed away November 2, 2018.  Ray was born to Evelyn and Eugene Rodgers in Detroit, Michigan. However, it was his stepfather, George Aaron Griggs, who positively impacted his choices in life. After graduating from high school, Ray joined the United States Air Force where he served with honor and dedication for 20 years.

Raymond loved to compete in athletic competitions. He competed in the National Diving trials for the Olympics when he was 14 years old.  Ray was an avid golfer who enjoyed 7 holes-in-one, one of them being a hole-in-one on a par four, during his 60 years of golfing. He enjoyed any sport that involved a ball.  Ray instilled the love of sports in all five of his children.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest daughter; Catherine and oldest son, Lawrence.  He is survived by his loving and caring wife of forty years; Patty, his daughter, Connie (Wes) Wesolowski, his son; Timothy (Eileen) Rodgers, his daughter; Cynthia (Mark) Lecher, and 3 step-children; Phillip Schöneberger, Mike (Julia) Schöneberger, and LuAnn (Mark) Shupe along with 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  There was a friend that he always considered his daughter, because of the care she had given him, Jeannine (Sadat) Miller.

His wife and family appreciate all the care and loving patience the staff provided at Highland Manor of Mesquite.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in their Guest Book at www.virginvalleymortuary.com.
