Muriel Jean (Bourret) Griffith

Muriel Jean Griffith, 96, passed away on April 12, 2019 in Mesquite, NV. Muriel was born on August 24, 1922 in Sioux City, IA to Lawrence Regis Bourret and Helen Lindblade. She married Frank M. Griffith in Los Angeles, CA in January of 1965. 

Muriel loved to laugh and to be with family. She worked hard to raise her five children and treasured the years they had together. Muriel loved to sew, and used this talent to make clothing for her children and grandchildren. She loved to garden and cook healthy food, and her kids would often come home to find her listening to good music and dancing. She had a love for books, and joined a the book club, the Wisdom Seekers, in Stevensville, MT. She passed this love of reading to her children. She had a strong faith in God, and helped teach Sunday School at the Lutheran Church. After she and Frank were married, Frank’s two sons joined their family, and the two merged quickly, and they became very close. Her children were grateful that she married such a wonderful man. After retirement, Muriel and Frank bought a motor home and traveled much of the United States, and explored much of Europe. They were strong members of the community, and they were named Citizens of the Year in Stevensville, MT for the volunteer work at the Food Bank, the local parks, and schools. Muriel had a curious mind, and would learn and research anything that she had a question about. 

Muriel is survived by her children; Dennis (Cathy) Griffith, Dan (Polly) Prendergast, Vance (Karen) Prendergast, Shawn H. (Michael) Loncaynia, and Kim (Fred) Lang, her seventeen grandchildren, and her numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; Frank M. Griffith, her parents, her siblings, and her children; Gary (Harriet) Griffith and April (Pat) Aguilar.
