Dr. Richard Herold Baker, age 84, died peacefully at Summerlin Hospital early on Monday, February 19, 2018. He was born April 26, 1933 to Herold Clark and Ida Elizabeth Marshall Baker in Allen, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife, Galina Ammon, two daughters, Julie (Mike) Finn of FL; Elizabeth (Dan) Nielsen of UT; sons, Sam (Katrina) Baker; Dan (Lisa)Baker both of NV; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan in 1956, and later his medical degree with honours, with residencies at Children's Hospital of Michigan at Wayne State University (in Pediatrics) and Michigan’s St. Mary’s Health Care. He served as an Air Force Captain for two years at Edwards AFB in California before moving to Las Vegas and beginning his professional practice in 1964. He continued to work until the time of his death.
Throughout his medical career, Dr. Baker helped countless children, and many adults, overcome everything from common medical conditions to complicated health challenges. His search for fresh approaches to improving health, and inexhaustible wish to apply the most beneficial treatment, defined his career.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Cimmaron Ward LDS Chapel, 7401 Smoke Ranch Road, Las Vegas, NV. Visitation will be from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at the Logandale Cemetery.
