Ruth Burgener Chamberlain

Ruth Burgener Chamberlain, age 70, passed away at her home due to septic shock that led to multiple organ failure, on Sunday morning, July 23, 2017, in Mesquite, NV.

Ruth was born October 17, 1946, to Edward Henry and Lucile Cluff Burgener in Heber City, UT. She was raised on the family farm with four siblings. She married her best friend and kindred spirit, Jackson H. Chamberlain on July 17, 1969, and they were sealed for time and all eternity a year later in the Logan, UT Temple. The couple and their two daughters, Sharon and Susan, moved to Rock Springs, WY in the spring of 1973.

Ruth was always a hard worker, doing many chores around the farm early in the morning and late into the evening, while spending as much time as possible with her mother learning to be the wonderful homemaker she became. Ruth made many outfits while in high school and after, many of which she earned awards and many accolades. This great talent followed her to Provo, UT where she lived with five roommates, and ended up as a supervisor in a sewing factory. This became a huge benefit after getting married and having children. The young couple struggled financially, as so many do, and was able to pay their bills in large part because of Ruth’s skills in sewing. This ability transferred into many homemade clothes for her growing family. Ruth did many odd jobs throughout her life in Rock Springs to help bring in money and make sure her children never went without anything they needed. She was also quick to help those in need; cooking food, cleaning their homes, doing laundry or dished, pretty much whatever needed to be done. She instilled this great gift of charity in her daughters at an early age, one they continued throughout their own lives. Ruth gave her all to her husband and children. She didn’t even have a new outfit of her own until her children were grown themselves, and bought their mom new clothing as a thank you for all her many years of giving them everything.

Ruth and Jack moved back to Heber City, UT in the spring of 1990. Both of Ruth’s parents had passed away, and Ruth finally had the opportunity to fix up her childhood home - something she had dreamed of for many years. Together, the couple worked for the next seventeen years making a beautiful home on the farm where Ruth was raised. It was here that Ruth and Jack welcomed their precious grandchildren, Danae and Ardra. They spent as many hours as they could with these beautiful girls, loving and cherishing every moment spent with them. Watching these girls grow gave them more joy than they ever thought possible.

Finally ready to have the retirement they both deserved, they sold their home and land in Utah, and moved to Mesquite, NV for their next adventure. They had a lovely home that was practically brand new and didn’t need to be remodeled. Ruth still spent much time on her dewing machine fixing clothing for her children and grandchildren. Ruth was always looking at things she could change, or make better in her home, and did much beautifying to the home. In 2010, a great granddaughter, Athena, was born to this loving family. Jack returned home to his Father-in-Heaven on August 10, 2012. Ruth missed Jack every single day, but knew her time on this earth was not yet done. With amazing love3, she took care of her youngest daughter and youngest granddaughter, wanting to make them as happy as she possibly could. Ruth’s many talents continued shining through with several amazing pieces of artwork and latch-hook rugs that adorn her, and other peoples’ homes to this day. She did many portraits of loved ones and gave them as gifts to those blessed to have their image captured by her tremendous capabilities. She welcomed her great grandson, Damon, into the family in 2013. Ruth’s family was of the utmost importance to her, knowing that they would all be together in Heaven one day. Being able to be home, in her own bed, when she left her mortal body, was immensely important to Ruth. She passed in her sleep, not having any pain or discomfort in the few days before her passing. We know her reunion with Jack was one of pure rapture, rejoicing, and great love.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Leon) Gardner, of Las Vegas, NV, and Susan Chamberlain, of Mesquite NV; two granddaughters, Danae (Thomas) Glieden, of Herriman, UT, and Ardra McDow, of Mesquite NV; one great granddaughter, Athena Selene Glieden, of Herriman, UT, and one great grandson, Damon Jack Glieden, of Herriman, UT; two brothers, Glen (Sherman) Burgener, of Heber City, UT, and Rex (Lisa) Burgener, of Orem, UT; and two sisters, Joyce (DeWayne) Julander, of Bear River City, UT, and Arlene Burgener, of Heber City, UT. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Jack.
