Logandale

Amparo Lopez Rodriguez, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 23, 1938, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Juan Lopez and Guadalupe Rodriguez.

Amparo lived in Mexico until 1976, when she moved with her young family to Logandale, Nevada, beginning a new chapter of her life in the United States. Amparo was a hardworking and talented woman who took great pride in her work and her family. She worked for Wayne Newton at his ranch in Logandale as a gardener and was also trusted for her exceptional skills as a seamstress. Her dedication and talent led her to work at his Las Vegas home as well. She especially enjoyed sewing and creating beautiful bridesmaids, prom, and wedding dresses for members of her family. Her love of sewing was a gift she generously shared with those she loved.

Amparo will be remembered for her strength, hard work, creativity, and devotion to her family. She built a life centered around the people she loved and leaves behind a legacy that will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her three sons and three daughters: Celia Dominguez; Nicolas (Tammy) Huerta, both of Logandale; Sandra (Glen) Martin of Las Vegas; Oscar Huerta; Jaime (RaNae) Huerta, both of Logandale; and Maria Huerta (Tarek Shaalan) of Las Vegas; fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; and siblings: Pedro (Guadalupe) Lopez of Mexico; Jose (Marianela) Lopez of Overton and Guadalupe (Miguel) Lopez of Mexico. Amparo was preceded in death by her brother, Jesus, and her sisters, Antonia, Maria, and Maria Rubio.

As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Amparo gave her family a love that will remain with them for generations. She was the heart of her family, a woman whose strength carried her loved ones through difficult times and whose hands were always creating, caring, and giving. The love she shared was woven into every part of her family’s lives, much like the beautiful dresses she so lovingly made. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will carry her memory in the stories they tell, the traditions they continue, and the love they share with one another. Though her hands may no longer be here to sew, comfort, and care for those she loved, the beautiful legacy she created will never fade. Amparo will forever remain in the hearts of the family she loved so deeply.
