Carolyn Jones Heaton

February 21, 1960 — August 5, 2025

Las Vegas, NV

Carolyn Jones Heaton, 65, passed away on August 5, 2025 in her home in Las Vegas, NV. Carolyn was born on February 21, 1960 in Cedar City, UT to Willard Carroll Jones and Gertrude Ann Adams Jones. She was the fourth of five children and spent her youth in an active and nurturing home on 200 West in Cedar City where love abounded. After graduating from Cedar High School, she continued her education in a Weber State University sponsored nursing program at Southern Utah State College in Cedar City and Dixie College in St. George Utah. She graduated in 1980 with a two-year RN degree.  During her first year of nursing school, Carolyn was introduced to William Heaton who would become her eternal companion. They were sealed on June 27, 1980 in the St. George, UT Temple. Carolyn worked as a nurse until the arrival of her oldest son in 1982, but then gave up nursing to become a full-time mother and homemaker. Although she never worked as a nurse again, her medical training and knowledge were a blessing to her family throughout her life.

Carolyn was a faithful and committed wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to laugh and found joy throughout her life in the midst of difficult health challenges. She had numerous hobbies and passions including crafting, sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, and traveling to the United Kingdom to explore the land of her ancestors. Although never fully comfortable performing in public, she played the piano beautifully and passed on her musical talents and love of music to her children. Throughout her life she was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Church's Relief Society, Primary and Young Women's auxiliaries. Favorite areas of service were with the children and youth in Primary and Young Women's. Above all, she loved her children and grandchildren, and she made many sacrifices during her life to take care of and teach them the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Words cannot express the love and appreciation our family will always have for her.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, William H. Heaton; her children, Jonathan W. Heaton, James M. (Kerri) Heaton, Bryan J. (Stephanie) Heaton; and Karli E. Heaton; her seven grandchildren; and her siblings, Robert (Karla) Jones, Alan (LuWenn) Jones, and Jay (Lorinda) Jones. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Gertrude Jones, her daughter, Heidi Heaton; her sister, Linda (Scott) Adams; and her grandson, Russell William Heaton.
