Ernest (Ernie) Joseph Choy, 70, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at his Mesquite residence. He was born July 21, 1943 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Wenceslaus and Anna Botelho Choy.
Ernest was raised on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. He graduated from Kalani High School and later attended Culinary Art school. Ernie worked for a time in Waikiki perfecting his culinary skills, eventually being certified as a Chef. He then traveled to the mainland where he worked at many restaurants in California. Ernie finally settled in Mesquite, Nevada, where he continued to work as a Chef until his retirement. Of course he enjoyed cooking but his greatest joy was his children.
He is survived by his companion Bo, his sons Daniel, Christopher, Brandon, his daughter Shannon and a brother Raymond.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10:00 am at Virgin Valley Mortuary, 320 E. Old Mill Road, Mesquite, Nevada.
