Garry Earl Hunt, 87, passed away on April 2, 2026 in his home in Logandale, NV. Garry was born on May 31, 1938 in Cedar City, UT to Jonathan Alma Hunt and Eliza Mignonette Bauer. He married Clarine Stevens in Enterprise, UT on November 28, 1958, and they were later sealed on May 10, 1973 in the Manti, UT Temple.
Garry was a known prankster who loved to laugh and make others join him. From responding to the question, “How do you feel?” (with my fingers), to placing a double-seater outhouse on the school steps for the student council elections voting booth, to the many pranks played during his time as Clark County Fire Battalion Chief in Las Vegas, there was no end to his clever hijinks.
When he wasn’t pulling pranks, Garry was also known for his hard work and integrity. He joined the Clark County Fire Department at age 19, when there were only 14 members in the department. He quickly rose to leadership and was highly respected for his courage and integrity. He never did anything halfway. He often worked at least one other job in addition to the fire station while still making time for his girls.
Garry could also fix anything. He loved to work with his hands, especially on his cars and trucks, but during a mission in Sixth Crossing, Wyoming, he also learned woodworking skills that allowed him to build covered wagons and handcarts.
Garry is survived by his sweetheart, Clarine Hunt; his daughters, Cathy (Mark) Buchanan, Gaynell Hunt, DeLois (Albert) Smith, and Natalie (Chad) Strigham; his grandchildren, Monica (Charles) Elder, Mark (Sarah) Buchanan, Ben (Stacy) Buchanan, Anslin (Matthew) Ball, Jessica (Erich) Baehr, Stephanie (Brian) Duvall, Megan (Taylor) Leavitt, and Lane (Brook) Strigham; his 30 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; and his sibling, Jeanneé Hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jonathan and Eliza Hunt; 10 of his siblings, and his grandsons, Travis and Garrett Smith.
