Joseph Glen Rawson, age 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his home in Logandale, Nevada. He was born on May 19, 1948, in Midvale, Utah, to James Daniel and Mable Beckstead Rawson. Glen spent his early childhood in Sandy before moving to Las Vegas at four. He grew up there and during his youth, became well known for his love of drag racing and his talent for working on cars. He welded headers for race cars, repaired engines, and shared his mechanical gifts with anyone in need. In 1966, while still in high school, he earned the prestigious Plymouth Troubleshooting Award and proudly displayed the trophy and gold wrenches for years to come. Glen graduated from Western High School and later attended Vo-Tech, where he honed the skills that would lead to a successful career in air conditioning.
On April 26, 1967, Glen married his sweetheart Cheryl Leah Brewer in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later sealed on March 10, 1977, in the St. George Utah Temple. He worked in the commercial refrigeration field in Las Vegas.
In August of 1976, Glen and Cheryl moved their young family to Logandale, Nevada, where they built a life full of service, work, and deep community roots. This would be their home for nearly five decades. Glen worked for his brother Ray as a dental crown and bridge technician. Eventually, word got around that he was skilled at repairing air conditioning units. He decided to go back into the HVAC trade and started Rawson Refrigeration, which has served the community for over 40 years.
Glen served as a volunteer firefighter and later as the fire chief in Logandale. He faithfully served as a member of the Logandale 1st ward bishopric and enjoyed his time serving in the Las Vegas temple. He was often found helping his wife, Cheryl, cook scones for the booster club, the ward, or whoever needed them. If she was involved in a project, so was he. That led to a lot of fun experiments and projects with her Cub Scout boys. It also led to the building of a giant Pomegranate juicer that kept the whole family busy, working together. He spent many hours juicing pomegranates for people in the valley.
Everyone knew you could find Glen in his shop working on a project for a family member or a friend. He could fix anything. His kids and grandkids often came by to learn how to make pottery, jewelry, or work on an engine. There were many requests for help with endless projects, and nothing was off limits. He loved serving and spending time with his family. He is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Glen is survived by his wife, Cheryl; three daughters, Denise (Kevin) O’Toole of Overton, NV; Angela (Brad) Benson of Parowan, UT; Leah (Brad) Bush of Overton, NV; and his only son, Joe (Tosha) Rawson of Logandale, NV; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Raymond Rawson of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Mable Rawson, brother Jim Rawson, and sisters Cleo Brown and Colleen Glover.
