Joseph “Joe” Ryo Furushiro, 58, passed away peacefully at his home in Moapa, Nevada, on September 11, 2025. He was born October 5, 1966, in Watsonville, California, to Joseph Furushiro Sr. and Katy Sullivan. On December 26, 1988, he married his high school sweetheart, Tonya Leianne Wilhelm.
Joe grew up in Watsonville before moving to Las Vegas, where he worked as a Journeyman Lineman for NV Energy for 28 years, a career he took great pride in. Shortly before retiring, he settled in Moapa, where he enjoyed farm life with his goats and chickens.Above all, Joe was proud to be a father and especially a grandpa to his granddaughter Paisley May, who brought him endless happiness.
Joe was also an avid firearm collector and loved the simple pleasures of farm life. He could often be found surrounded by his goats, building contraptions and tinkering with projects to care for his animals—pastimes that filled him with laughter and peace.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya; his daughters, Nicole “Nic” (Cameron Tenn) and Samantha (Tristan Krug); his granddaughter, Paisley May Krug; and his sisters, Kimberly Elias (Luis Flores) and Naomi (Dean) Martin.
