Lisa Elizabeth
Hahn
May 24, 1961 – March 21, 2026
Lisa Elizabeth (Starks) Hahn
Lisa Elizabeth (Starks) Hahn joined her Heavenly Father on March 21th, 2026. She was born at 5:55 PM on May 24th, 1961, in South Dakota, to Kenneth Lee Starks and Rose Marie (Sinclair). The family later moved to Southern California, where Lisa spent much of her childhood in the company of her beloved grandparents. She completed her primary education and graduated from Canyon High School in Canyon Country, California in 1979, where she was best known by her chosen nickname, "Tony."
After many years of working and raising children, Lisa returned to school in her mid-forties, and earned a Master's degree in Special Education. She went on to dedicate her career to serving special needs high school students, retiring from Coconino High School in Flagstaff, Arizona in 2022. She spent her retirement in Overton, Nevada.
Lisa is survived by her four children: Shannon, Jeffrey, Joshua, and Justin; and six grandchildren; her mother, Rose; her brothers Randy (Annie) and Ronnie (Terri); and a community of friends and students whose lives she touched.
A devoted mother and steadfast Christian, she had a deep and joyful love of nature — camping, gardening, and hand-feeding wild animals, unbothered by the full knowledge of the risks of fines, fees, and animal borne diseases that came with befriending critters. Her favorite flower was the Lily of the Valley, a bloom that symbolizes the return of happiness.
Lisa loved horses almost as much as she loved Jesus. She spoke of them so often that her Native students nicknamed her "Lisa Hasnohorse" — a joke she found absolutely hilarious. In a remarkable coincidence, a beloved Sport Gelding named Heathcliffe, passed away at the Carolina International on the same day she did. She finally has her horse.
Lisa is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Lee Starks, her beloved grandparents Vernon G. and Lavina Elizabeth Sinclair, and her loyal dog Lexie.
Numbers 6:24-26 - The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
A private celebration of life ceremony will be held on her birthday.
In lieu of gifts please consider making a small donation to the national parks protection fund in her name.
