Marcia Dee Reynolds Watkins made her long awaited reunion with her eternal companion on June 9, 2025 at her home in Saint George, Utah. She slipped peacefully into the next stage of her life after faithfully completing what she needed to do here in mortality.
Marcia was born on April 16, 1939 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to Royal Willard Reynolds and Fern Dowdle. She was the second of five children. Her childhood was spent on the family farm in Stockton, Utah. After graduating as the salutatorian from Tooele High School, she spent the summer in California where she met Herbert Grant Watkins who was there on a military assignment. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 28, 1958. They initially made their home in Orem, Utah and eventually returned to her family farm in Stockton where they raised their family of seven children. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
Marcia was extremely intelligent and talented in many ways. She enjoyed crocheting and had an innate ability to make beautiful creations without a pattern. She crocheted unique baptismal afghans for each of her grandchildren that conveyed her love for and faith in Jesus Christ and His promises, as symbolized by rainbows. One of her long-term projects was making Christmas ornaments for her posterity. She created more than a thousand of these unique gifts. Although she didn’t really enjoy cooking, she loved to make treats for her children and grandchildren.
She served faithfully throughout her life in various callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was particularly grateful to serve two missions with Grant—a CES assignment in Cranbrook, British Columbia in the Canada Calgary Mission and a service mission at the Warm Springs Recreation Area in Moapa, Nevada. She also loved researching her family history and sharing it with her family.
She had three great goals in life: have a family, serve a mission and earn a college degree. After Grant passed away, she surprised everyone by announcing her plans to go to college. At 76 years old she began her freshman year and completed her bachelors degree in 2023 at the age of 84.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Grant, her parents, two brothers, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren. She is survived by five sons and two daughters: Kirk (Paula), Gary (Kimberly), Janette (Robert) Clayton, Bonnie (John) Thomas, Steven (Shirley), Tim (Kathy) and John (Catherine); and her siblings, Kenneth and Rebecca. She is currently blessed with 29 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
