Michael Hoe, Jr.

Sep 12, 1986 — Aug 18, 2026

Las Vegas, Nevada

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael David Hoe, Jr., who left this world on August 18, 2026, at the age of 39 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michael was born on September 12, 1986, in St. George, Utah, to Michael David Hoe, Sr. and Michele Cortez Hoe. On March 8, 2009, he married the love of his life, Kimberly Ann VanDerSluis, and together they built a life centered on love, family, and devotion.

Michael was raised in Overton, Nevada, where he graduated from Moapa Valley High School. Driven by a strong work ethic and a desire to build and create, he attended vocational school and learned the HVAC trade. His talents and determination led him to a career with MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, where he worked in engineering and maintenance. Although he explored other career paths over the years, Michael ultimately discovered that his greatest satisfaction came from working with his hands and solving problems. He found his calling as a project manager with Nailor Construction, where his skills, dedication, and reliability earned the respect of those around him.

Beyond his work, Michael embraced life with enthusiasm and passion. Music was one of his greatest joys. From playing guitar in a high school band to writing his own songs as an adult, he shared his gift with friends, family, and anyone lucky enough to listen. He had a love for fast cars, spicy food, and the simple pleasures that brought excitement and laughter to everyday life.

What truly defined Michael, however, was his heart. He was a loving husband, a proud and devoted father, a loyal son, brother, and friend. He had a warm, outgoing personality that made people feel welcome and valued. His kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Michael's greatest pride and joy were his family, and the love he gave them will continue to be felt for years to come.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberly; his cherished children, Aaron and Gianna, all of Las Vegas; his father, Michael (Laura) Hoe of Overton, Nevada; his mother, Michele (Six) Hernandez of Las Vegas, Nevada; his grandmothers, Beulah Gray of Michigan and Maria Beaver of Indiana; his sister, Meressa (Greyson) Loomis, of Indiana; his brother, Evan (Kaleigh) Hernandez of Las Vegas; and his stepsisters, Katelin (Josh) Wagner of Overton and Mariah (Nick) Baker of Washington, Utah. He also leaves behind many extended family, Aunts and Uncles, friends and loved ones who will deeply miss his presence.

A memorial visitation will be held for Michael Friday, September 4, 2026 from 9 - 9:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Southern Hills Chapel, 7885 W. Robindale Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89113.  A Memorial Service honoring Michael's life will follow immediately at the same location starting at 10:00 a.m.
