Myrna Monroe

Myrna Marie Monroe, age 67, died Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada after complications from heart surgery. She was born August 16, 1957 in Las Vegas to Ina Segmiller (Asket). On January 22, 1982 she married her longtime sweetheart, Marty Marvin Monroe in Sacramento, California.

Myrna spent her early years in Moapa. She attended boarding school at Sherman Indian School in Riverside, California before moving to Sacramento where she graduated from American River College. There she met Marty. They built a life in Sacramento, raising their children, serving their community and building lifelong lasting friendships. She loved her Native American Heritage and always found ways to serve her community. She dedicated her life to social services, educating others with diabetes, helping them to manage their complex health conditions and provided resources and support on parenting and other social and life skills. She loved the people she served and they in turn respected and loved her.

She loved music, house plants, interior decorating and her pets. But most of all, her grandchildren were her heart and soul. She loved to laugh and will always be remembered for her love of people and for the service she freely gave to others as well as her happy-go-lucky and care-free spirit. She moved back to the home of her childhood five years ago.

Survivors include her husband, Marty; two sons: Marty Jr. (Deena) of Marysville, CA; Mario (Aurora) of Moapa; four grandchildren; and three sisters: Louira Waco of Moapa; Rachel Marquez of Carpenteria, CA and Donna Hanks of Moapa.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Moapa Chapel, 1420 E. Barlow Avenue, Moapa, Nevada. Friends and family are invited to sign our online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com
