Philip Graham Lada, age 55, of Highland Park, MI, formerly of Ferndale, MI & formerly of Las Vegas, NV passed away unexpectedly November 14, 2022, in his home in Highland Park.
He was born in Royal Oak, MI on October 31, 1967 the son of Leonard E. and Charlene (Pobe) Lada. He was a 1986 graduate of Ferndale High School and was an avid athlete participating in the varsity sports of football, baseball, and wrestling. He attended Albion College for a year and played one season of football there. Early in his career he worked for the Nevada Highway Patrol as a state trooper stationed at the Southern Command in Las Vegas. Later, his career path took him to the Nevada Department of Corrections where he worked as a corrections officer at the High Desert State Prison near Las Vegas. He also worked for Sprint North Supply in New Century, KS for a short period of time.
He married Megan Rodriguez on June 20, 1992. They had five children together, and were later divorced in 2014. Philip enjoyed sharing his love and knowledge of sports with his children and coached them in baseball and softball.
Philip was honored by the Olathe Police Department in Kansas for his actions in assisting an Olathe police officer who was in a foot pursuit of a subject who was resisting arrest. He and another citizen helped the officer catch the subject, subdue him, and get him safely back to the custody of the Olathe officer. Philip received a Citizens Award for his efforts.
He is survived by a sister, Jacqueline Waber (Brian); daughters, Cassidy Lada and Riley Lada; sons, Carson Lada, Renner Lada, and Ryder Lada; nephews, William Lyvers, John H. Lyvers III, and Daniel Waber.
He was preceded in death by his sister Marianne Lyvers, brother-in-law John H. Lyvers II, and his parents Charlene and Leonard Lada.
A cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Logandale Cemetery, 3228 Lyman Ave, Logandale, NV 89021. A celebration of life will follow and will be held at The Clubhouse inside the Lamplight Village Subdivision located at 7900 Meandering Path Ave, Las Vegas, NV.
Arrangements in Michigan have been entrusted to Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home in Alma and arrangements in Nevada have been entrusted to Moapa Valley Mortuary in Logandale.
