He was born on August 31, 1969, in Henderson, Nevada to Rodney Price and Kathleen Kaye Hunter Nelson. He grew up in Moapa Valley and attended Moapa Valley High School, where he was a standout student and actively involved in a wide variety of school activities, and numerous school clubs. He graduated with honors in 1987 and earned his Eagle Scout Award, a reflection of his early commitment to leadership and love for the gospel.

Rory pursued higher education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and later at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He also served ten years in the United States Army as a dedicated combat medic, earning the rank of Sergeant. His service reflected his compassion, discipline and deep sense of duty.

Rory was passionate about teaching and spent his career inspiring young minds as a high school science teacher. He taught at Las Vegas Academy in Las Vegas and later at Green Valley High School in Henderson. His students admired him for his depth of knowledge, engaging teaching style, and genuine care for their success.

Well-read and endlessly curious, Rory was known for his vast knowledge whether in the classroom, among friends, or in church discussions, he was always ready to share insight, ask thoughtful questions, and seek truth.
