Susan Carol Reynolds ”Susie” Jones, age 71, died Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after succumbing to injuries suffered in a tragic accident just days before. She was born on February 8, 1955, in Camden, Arkansas to Wayman Doss and Nancy Marilyn Boger Reynolds. On August 8, 1975, she married Kevin Allen Jones in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Kevin preceded her in death on March 2, 2010.
Susie grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas where she graduated from Northside High School, playing the Bassoon in the High school band. When she was a senior in high school, Elder Kevin Jones knocked on her door as a proselyting missionary. Although he was annoying, the message of the Church touched her and she commenced learning about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After being baptized, she and Kevin wrote to each through the end of his mission. After graduation she attended Ricks College in Idaho. Her roommate happened to be Kevin’s sister, Kengi. She soon realized Kevin was suddenly less annoying, and they were married a few months later.
They moved back to the Jones farm in Otto, Wyoming where they welcomed all of their children. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Laramie, she accepted a job with CCSD and they moved their family to Logandale in 1990. She later earned her master’s degree and retired after over 30 years of teaching. During her career, she taught PreSchool, Music, Art, Literacy, but her heart was in the First grade. From the time she was little, she was an avid reader and often finished books in only a day. She constantly made lists of future titles she hoped to enjoy. Susie loved learning and sharing her knowledge. She loved playing piano, especially at church in the primary. She was most happy when surrounded by her grandchildren and the “greats”. She lovingly referred to them all as “George”. She was known as Grandma, “Jones”, Granny.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter: Jeff (Maria) of Delta, UT; Jenna (Tom) Rhude of Barling, AR; Nick (Esther) of Blue Springs, MO; Nate (Kelli) of Cedar City, UT; 21 grandchildren; two great grandchildren. She was preceded by two children, David and LynDee and one sister, Lindy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Logandale West Stake Center, 3245 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., Logandale, Nevada.
