Amado Salazar Prieto

Amado Salazar Prieto, 86, passed away on November 19, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. Amado was born on September 13, 1935 in Delta, CO. to Tiburcio Prieto and Isabel Salazar. In his younger years Amado worked with his parents as they traveled from state to state working in the fields. He married Janie Monzolo in Overton, NV on February 14, 1961. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many years as a Section Man until his retirement.  He enjoyed the outdoors and volunteered for local state parks for many years, cleaning up and acting as a host in state campgrounds. He and Janie would travel all over the western states and up the coast in their motor home until her passing in 2012. Amado loved being with and serving others, he was very friendly to everyone he met. He would often bring extra supplies on the road to help those stranded on the highway.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and liked to play baseball and other games with them.
 
Amado is survived by his children: Amado "Magito" Prieto Jr. (Wife: Debbie), Candelaria “Penny” Maldanado (Husband Daniel), Clementine  Naughton (Husband William), and Tina Ratliff (Husband Leland); their two adopted children Daniel and Sandra along with his nine grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren; as well as his siblings: Sofia Zubia, Natalia Loya, and Gloria Prieto; and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janie Prieto, and his parents.
