Charles "Bob" Johnson Obituary

Charles Robert "Bob" Johnson passed away on September 6, 2021 in Logandale, NV. Bob was born on April 16, 1930 in Mesilla Park, NM to Charles Rollin Johnson and Ida Ione Graham. When his parents divorced, his mother, he and his little brother moved in with his grandparents in El Paso, Texas. He was raised with many of his aunts and uncles who were near his age. When he was about 10 years old, his mother married Allan Hill, who became a second father to him. At age sixteen, Bob was stricken with Polio, which would change his life forever. The Polio Foundation sent him to learn the trade of printing at the University in Huntsville, TX,  and this is where he met Dolores Molene Brown who was working at the print shop. They were married in Huntsville, TX on May 20, 1950, and they were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on February 6, 1957. They lived and raised their family in El Paso, Texas. He worked many jobs during his life including: conducting a trolley car in Dallas, TX; selling insurance for Commonwealth Insurance Company and then working as an area manager for them in Casper, WY for two years; working for Multi-Graph Corporation for many years. He also owned his own print shop for five years; and then finished his career working for the Freeman Institute for Constitutional Studies running their Print Shop in West Valley, Utah. He and Dolores moved to Overton, NV in January 1998.
Bob loved to read, and also wrote several stories.  He loved music, and had a wonderful deep, bass voice. He sang in a barbershop quartet and many choirs. He was always whistling as he came in the door from work. He was quite a story teller. He will be fondly remembered for the many hours he told his grandchildren stories. He was a man with a kind heart and gentle manner. He made sure his grandchildren knew they were loved, when he whispered his secret in their ear.
He was very invested in genealogy, and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings, but really loved his years as a Stake missionary and as the Stake Mission President in El Paso, Texas. He also taught seminary for 6 years, and touched many lives with his testimony, and his knowledge of and love for the gospel. He also served as Bishop in West Valley, UT. He was a faithful Home teacher and in all the callings that he had.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Linda (Ron) Taylor of Logandale, Nevada, and Rebecca "Becky"  (John) Jensen of Kamas, Utah, and his daughter-in-law Bonnie Johnson; his seventeen grandchildren; his fifty-six great-grandchildren (with one on the way),  and his one great-great-grandchild (with one on the way); and his sisters, Susie Hill King and Darnetta Johnson Miller.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Brown Johnson; his son, Charles Douglas "Doug" Johnson, and his daughter and her husband, Debra and Kevin Miner. Also his parents, Charles Rollin (Marjorie) Johnson and Ida Graham (Allan) Hill; brothers Franklin and Roy Johnson,  Floyd Allan Hill, and King Johnson; and  sisters Allene Hill Gibson, and Nancy Hill Fetters.
