Elwyn F Adams, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Logandale Nevada on January 2, 2022. He was born January 30, 1934 in Overton, Nevada to Louis and Lillian Frehner Adams. On May 21, 1960 he married Verla Ann Gubler in the St. George LDS temple. Elwyn grew up in Logandale, learning to work hard at a young age on the family farm. He attended grade school at the Old Logandale School and graduated from MVHS where he was active in football, basketball, FFA and student council. Elwyn always loved fast cars, building his first car, a roadster, in 8th grade. He also built the first dune buggy in Logandale in the 1960s.
He attended Brigham Young University for a year before being drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Korean conflict. After an Honorable Discharge, he attended a year at the College of Southern Utah before serving in the Western States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He returned to BYU until he met his future wife, Verla Gubler. They were married May 21, 1960 in the St. George Utah Temple.
Elwyn and Verla settled in Logandale where they raised their two daughters, Camille and Corinne. Elwyn formed A & W farms with his brother-in-law. Later they partnered with two other local dairies and created Vegas Valley Farms Creamery in Logandale. A few years later, A & W Farms purchased a large farm in Enterprise, Utah.
Elwyn was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many callings, including a High Councilor for 10 years, 2nd counselor in the Bishopric, and presidencies of many other organizations. He and Verla served in the Las Vegas NV Temple for many years. They also served in the Nauvoo, Illinois Temple Mission at the time of its dedication. He was a wonderful example of service in the gospel to his family and to those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Verla, two daughters, Camille (Rod) Leavitt and Corinne (Matt) Messer, all of Logandale, sister Colleen Nelson, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Cord Elwyn, and parents, Louis and Lillian Frehner Adams, sister Ila Winsor, and brother Keith Adams.
