Klee Marchant

Klee Marchant, age 82, died March 25, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born February 18, 1938, in Ogden Utah to Jesse Thomas and Reva Argen Barrow.  Klee grew up in Tracy, CA, where she met and later married Wayne Nelson Marchant for time and eternity in the Los Angeles California Temple on June 27, 1959. They were happily married 49 years until his death on December 2, 2008. Klee is also predeceased by her brother Donald J. Barrow. 

Klee earned her bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in early childhood education and spent her career loving and nurturing many children in her capacity as teacher, educator, and director at several pre-K day care centers. She was especially proud of her work overseeing the Head Start Program in Goleta, CA, where she helped young children from low-income families prepare for school by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development and fostering family well-being.

Motherhood was Klee’s greatest joy.  She selflessly balanced the challenges that come with being a working Mom. She was industrious and inspiring, smart and sympathetic, hardworking and helpful, capable and compassionate--a rare combination of qualities that made her loved and admired in and out of the home.  When she retired, Klee enjoyed looking for new adventures as she traveled the world with her cherished husband. Her family was her life and even though she wasn’t a “baking grandma” she doted on her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters: Karen (Jeff) Karriker of Salt Lake City, UT; Linda (Troy) Healey of Las Vegas, NV; Jill (Tom) Marchant of Kansas City, MO. 

A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada.  Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book at www.moapavalleymortuary.com .  In lieu of flowers the family asks that you spread kindness because that’s what Klee was made of.
