Olivia Joyce Tom, age 78, died Thursday, May 21, 2020 at her home in Moapa, Nevada. She was born November 10, 1941 in Overton, Nevada to Cato Sells and Edith Constance Cowboy Mike. She married Eugene Tom in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2003.
Olivia lived most of her life in Moapa. She graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 1960. She enjoyed crafts, floral arrangements, growing flowers and keeping her yard in order. She loved teaching young people and was enjoyed being part of the Head Start Program on the reservation. She was proud of her traditional Indian heritage.
Survivors include two daughters and two sons: Brenda Tom; Stephanie (David) Osborne; Lyle (Ursula); Mervyn Tom; six grandchildren; one great grandson; sister, Eunice Ohte and brother Darryl (JoAnn) Mike all of Moapa, Nevada.
A Traditional Indian Sing will begin Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the Moapa Paiute Tribal Building. Interment will follow at 6 a.m. at the Moapa Indian Cemetery.
